Three formats of cricket and major tournaments

Cricket fans in Bangladesh follow teams across all three formats with equal enthusiasm. rummy has betting markets for all three.

T20

T20 — the fastest format

Every ball counts in this twenty-over format. BPL and IPL are the most popular tournaments in T20. In the T20 World Cup, teams compete fiercely and odds can change in an instant.

ODI

ODI — fifty-over matches

One-day matches require both strategy and patience. The ICC Cricket World Cup is the top stage for this format. In ODIs, the betting situation changes considerably before and after the innings break.

Test

Test — the five-day challenge

Test cricket is the longest and most strategic format. Because a draw is a possible result, there are three markets — team A wins, team B wins, or draw. Understanding the pitch and weather before betting in this format is important.

rummy BPL and IPL tournament betting

Tournaments Bangladeshis love

BPL is Bangladesh's own T20 league and one of the tournaments with the most markets on rummy. With fierce competition among franchise teams, there are betting opportunities across every market from match winner to top scorer.

IPL is played in India but is widely popular among Bangladeshi fans. Betting on rummy while watching the Tigers play in international matches is its own experience. Bet volumes naturally rise during the ICC T20 World Cup and the ODI World Cup.

Football betting is also available on rummy, but it does not have over-by-over markets like cricket does. In football, halftime/fulltime result and goalscorer markets are more common. Cricket offers more markets and more variety than football, especially in live betting.

5 popular betting markets — how they work

It helps to understand the markets before placing a bet. Below is a straightforward explanation of the five most commonly used markets.

Market 1

Match Winner

The simplest market. Choose which team will win — team A or team B. In T20 and ODI there are two options; in Test, a draw is also an option.

Market 2

Toss Winner

A separate bet on who will win the toss before the main match begins. The result is entirely independent, but the toss becomes significant in the context of the pitch and weather.

Market 3

Top Batsman

Which batsman will score the most runs for their team? This market has separate odds for each batter in the team.

Market 4

Total Runs Over / Under

The bookmaker sets a target run line, for example "160". You bet on whether the total runs in the innings will be above that (over) or below it (under).

Market 5

Multi Bet

Multiple selections are combined into a single bet. If all selections are correct, the return is paid at the full combined odds. If three selections have decimal odds of 1.50, 1.80 and 1.90, the combined odds are 1.50 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.13; a ৳100 bet returns ৳513 — but if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost. See the detailed multi bet rules at rummy Bet.

Market 6

Next Wicket Market

Which over will the next wicket fall in, or who will take it — this market is popular in in-play betting. Odds change with every ball.

Odds in three formats — how to read them

Bookmakers write the same odds in three different ways. Decimal format is most common on rummy, but it is useful to understand all three.

Format Team A (example) What it means
Decimal 3.00 ₹stake × 3 = total return
Fractional 2/1 Profit ৳2 for every ৳1 staked
American +200 Profit ৳200 on a ৳100 bet

Example 2 — odds for the favourite

Bet on team B to win: decimal 1.25 = fractional 1/4 = American -400. American minus odds show how much you need to stake to win ৳100.

  • Total return on a ৳500 bet: ৳625 (profit ৳125)
  • The favourite is more likely to win, but the profit is smaller

Cricket match winner example

In a limited-overs match there is no draw, so there are two options:

Team A 2.10
Team B 1.75

If ৳1,000 is bet on team B and team B wins, the return is ৳1,750 (profit ৳750). If team A wins, ৳1,000 is lost. These are examples only — live odds change at all times.

rummy live in-play cricket betting

Live in-play betting — bet while the match is on

In-play betting on rummy opens once a match starts. Odds are reset after every wicket, every over and at the end of the powerplay. This is the most fast-moving part of cricket betting.

Say team A loses their first two wickets quickly — their odds of winning will lengthen and team B's odds will shorten. Someone can use that shift to place a new bet or place a protective bet against an earlier one.

In live betting there is less time to decide. Odds move quickly, so it is important to follow the match closely. More details on how in-play betting works on rummy are available on the FAQ page.

Things to keep in mind with in-play betting

  • Odds are recalculated after every wicket
  • Watch the scoreboard and live odds together
  • Decide your stake amount in advance
  • Betting is for entertainment — do not chase losses

Some practical tips for cricket betting

Betting is entertainment. Keeping the points below in mind will help you stay organised.

  • Choose markets that suit the format — high-score over/under markets are popular in T20; in Test, you can bet on all three outcomes including the draw.
  • Be careful when using multiple markets in one match — if you place opposite bets in the same match, one of them will always lose.
  • Set a budget in advance — decide on a fixed amount before each match and do not go beyond it.
  • Adding more selections to a multi bet increases the risk — the return may look bigger, but getting all of them right is harder.
  • Do not rush in live betting — odds move fast, but waiting a moment may get you better odds.
  • Know the rules — the full betting terms on rummy are on the terms and conditions page.

Responsible Betting

Cricket betting is a form of entertainment, not a way to earn income. Placing larger bets to recover losses is not a good idea. For ages 21+. If betting becomes an addiction, seek help.

rummy football and other sports betting

Football and other sports betting

Alongside cricket, rummy also offers football betting. It is worth understanding the difference between the two. A football match is just 90 minutes and has three possible results — home win, away win or draw. There are no over-by-over odds changes like in cricket.

In football, halftime/fulltime, first goalscorer and total goals over/under markets are the most common. Compared to cricket, in-play odds in football change less frequently.

rummy also has markets for sports like Kabaddi and tennis. Kabaddi is well known in Bangladesh, and interest in betting on this sport is growing.

rummy also has a wide range of slots and casino games. Hundreds of slot games are available in the rummy slots section.

Questions about cricket betting

Answers to common questions about cricket markets and the betting process.

T20 has twenty overs, so matches finish quickly and odds shift fast. There is less time to make decisions in in-play betting. In an ODI, conditions can change many times over fifty overs — odds in the second innings can look completely different after the innings break. T20 has no draw; ODI generally does not either, but if a match is left incomplete due to rain there may be a refund rule.

If a match is cancelled or left incomplete, the outcome of bets is determined according to rummy's terms and conditions. In general, if the required number of overs is not completed, the bet is considered void and the stake is returned. Visit the terms and conditions page for details.

Yes, quite different. In pre-match betting, odds are set before the match starts and you have time to decide. In in-play betting, odds refresh after every wicket, boundary or over. The markets are different too — for example, a market like "which over will the next wicket fall in" exists only in-play.

In a multi bet, selections from multiple matches or markets are combined into one bet. If all selections are correct, the odds of each are multiplied together to give the total return. If three selections have decimal odds of 1.50, 1.80 and 1.90, the combined odds are 5.13; a ৳100 bet returns ৳513. But if even one selection is wrong, the entire bet is lost. In cricket, match winners from different matches can be added together in a multi bet.

Both are T20 franchise leagues, so the types of markets are similar — match winner, top batsman, total runs and so on. The difference is in the quality of players and the number of teams. IPL has more teams and more matches, so there are more markets. BPL features more local players, which many find easier to analyse.
